Glowing reviews until Shaynna spots a huge error.

Apart from a brief site shutdown to remove asbestos, Tom and Sarah-Jane had a relatively trouble-free week on The Block until the afternoon before Reveals.

At possibly the worst time, they realised the window in their room wasn't in the centre of the wall now that the wardrobe has been installed.

That's a big problem because the wardrobe door can't open fully with the shutters there. Sarah-Jane tried to fix it by changing the shutters to a curtain, but unfortunately it wasn't the right type for the rod she had.

The couple were forced to present the room with the window as is, which means the judges will certainly have something to say about it.

Scroll to see what judges Shaynna Blaze, Neale Whitaker and Darren Palmer thought about Tom and Sarah-Jane's guest bedroom.

Neale's initial impression of the room was exactly what Tom and Sarah-Jane were hoping to hear.

"Wow," he said as he entered the space.

The colour palette was the first thing the judges noticed about the bedroom. They described it as "lovely" and "very autumn".

The burnt orange tones with pops of white and grey certainly do give a lovely cosy vibe and look very country.

"Tom and Sarah-Jane are demonstrating a real level of sophistication," Neale said of the couple's interior design skills.

After hearing that Sarah-Jane, with her tongue in cheek, said she wasn't shocked by Neale's comment because "sophistication" is usually what people think when they hear her name.

She may have been joking, but Sarah-Jane's styling definitely qualifies as sophisticated in our eyes.

Shaynna was a huge fan of the bedside tables in the guest bedroom.

"They are beautiful," she said.

The choice of this particular piece of furniture, which has a smooth timber base with natural fibre weave drawers and leather strap handles, shows how well the couple interpret interior design principles.

"They're understanding texture and that's what makes [the room] so warm," Shaynna said.

"We've got the texture in the comforter, we've got the texture in the cushions, we've got the texture in the bedside, we've got the beautiful wallpaper which is really subtle."

The wallpaper reminded Shaynna of the trees Scotty has outside his Block house, which means it's a lovely nod to the landscape the house sits on.

The judges loved the soaring ceiling in the room, which was shown off beautifully by a pendant light.

Neale noticed it was the light the couple used in their House Decider challenge room. He thought it was a stunning choice in that bedroom because of the way it threw patterned shadows around the room, and he liked it in this space for the same reason.

Darren gave the couple the thumbs up for including heritage touches in the cornicing. He also liked the decorative panels on the walls.

"All the detailing is really simple," he said.

"I love this wainscotting idea. [The wall] is just gyprock with some quad (timber panel moulding) – it's such a simple, easy, cheap way to make a wall look really glamorous," Darren explained.

"I love how it lines up underneath the window there and those plantation shutters have a place to really shine and frame that beautiful view."

Even though it's only week two, Neale thinks the couple has a knack for country style.

"Tom and Sarah-Jane seem to be demonstrating that they can hit that sweet spot between heritage and contemporary, and between town and country," he said.

"Just the little touches like the wall sconces, and over in the corner they've got a couple of candles — it's really charming," Neale added.

Not only have Tom and Sarah-Jane perfected country style, their finishes are also executed well, especially their paintwork.

Back at Block HQ, Tom said he appreciated Shaynna's comment but already knew he was a good painter.

"I know it's excellent, but thank you Shaynna," he joked.

Shaynna thought the wardrobes were a great choice, and all three judges were pleased to see the panel above the door was sealed because it means the heat can stay in the room.

But the dressing gown on the door didn't do it for Shaynna, because it was the wrong colour and style for the space. She would've preferred nothing hanging on the door than something that didn't match the sophistication of the room.

And then the moment we all knew was coming happened.

Shaynna went to see how much long-hanging storage there was in the wardrobe.

When she tried to open the wardrobe door next to the window, she soon realised the door of the only long-hanging space couldn't be fully opened because it bumps into the window shutters.

"Oh no. Wow," she said in dismay.

"Ah, that's not good... that's almost unusable because you can't get in there."

"Everything was going fantastically until..." Darren added, and said what we were all thinking.

The judges realised the problem isn't the wardrobe but the window placement, which Sarah-Jane knows but Tom doesn't want to admit.

"So to me, that's a really big thing because to fix that they would have to get rid of this bulkhead, which means they'd have to get rid of the cornice, so they're not going to resolve that quickly," Shaynna said.

Darren added, "There's a lot of things involved in fixing that error."

Back at Block HQ, Tom insisted the window wasn't going anywhere because it lined up with the weatherboards on the façade of the house. However Sarah-Jane wants it moved because "no one lays in their bed outside".

Since the window issue was a huge functionality problem, it means the judges will mark them down even though the room is beautiful.

"Functionality always overrules, always," Shaynna said.

"I bet Tom and Sarah-Jane are wishing we stopped at the dressing gown on the back of the door," Neale said.

While the window placement is a big problem, at least the room looks incredible.
