The Florida Highway Patrol has located the vehicle involved in a deadly hit and run Sunday afternoon in Beulah. The dark blue Chevrolet Malibu was found off Bridlewood Road north of Frank Reeder Road Monday morning.
“The damage was consistent with the pedestrian fatal crash,” FHP Lt. Jason King told NorthEscambia.com.
The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the car was recently reported stolen, but they are not yet saying exactly when.
A 70-year old man was struck and killed shortly before 3 p.m. Sunday as he walked next to Mobile Highway near Ferlon Avenue, about one-third of mile west of Beulah Road. The driver of the Chevrolet Malibu ran off the road and hit the man, according to FHP. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Troopers said the driver may have been a black male who may have pulled over after the crash. The car then continued west on Mobile Highway.
The Malibu was located about 2.5 miles from the crash site.
Anyone with information on the crash or driver is still asked to call Crime Stoppers at (850) 4333-STOP or the Florida Highway Patrol at *FHP.

@whisperjet they pretty much do ! Just about any dui manslaughter in Florida if convicted gets 15 yrs. So they will do ten or better. If they leave the scene of death there is an additional charge added that potentially get 30 more years typically if a person is convicted it’s between 20-25 years.
I wonder if they checked the vehicle for latent fingerprints on the door, door handles inside & out, steering wheel, or shift lever? Good place to start.

I wonder why they won’t say “when” and from where it was reported stolen???
I find it really hard to imagine that someone could randomly find that road to stash their vehicle. I’ve lived in the area for 25+ years and I’m not even sure where that road is? Who ever did it has to be local or had help from someone who is local, it would seem.
The punishment for leaving scene must be more severe than staying and getting DUI or whatever the reason a driver would leave.
I could not ever in my imagination ever hurt someone like that and leave them alone. I dont know if it’s me not been paying too much attention but this hit and run looks to have escalated. So very sorry for the family friends and kin. To live in a world that long and pass like this. Truly breaks my heart. Prayers for all.
He always wore a reflective vest and neon hat. The man who hit him may have been checking his rear view to see if he was being followed since he stole the car.

…DUI ‘S and hit and runs should be mandatory 10 years in prison….
They will vacuum the car and maybe get a DNA hair sample. Hopefully.
As long as we continue to be soft on crime more of this kinda thing will happen.
You can’t see reflective tape when you are texting or engrossed with your smart phone, regardless of the time of day. Willing to bet money that is what it was.
It is so dark on that road, doesn’t excuse the driver’s actions. People come through this road 90 miles an hour, it’s ridiculous. I used to walk Mobile Hwy. until my brother, who is a long haul truck driver, told me that it was a very dangerous road and not to walk down it for any reason! I live in Covington Circle and hear cars speeding at night. My love and prayers go out to Paul’s family.
This gentleman walk the neighborhood everyday and had on all kind of reflective gear so you could see him. It is a shame that someone would just run over someone and leave them for dead. Once they catch this person they should be charged with murder and sent to prison for life. If anyone seen anything I hope they report it. Today there is some many people that are afraid to say anything about things like this. Please speak up people.
So terribly sad. Prayers for his family. Whoever hit him, please, turn yourself in.
well I guess it seems like major highways are going to see speed bumps every 100 feet apart maybe this will help reduce speeders and folks on cell phones and drugs drinking and driving. my heart goes out to the family having to loose a love one just before Christmas. but to leave the scene after hitting someone left on the side of the road to die ? I hope the person is caught and punished to the fullest . never seen so many rude drivers moving here seems normal to them. we need more speed bumps alot more and then some more.
Maybe those who have camera’s and live along Mobile near the Ashley Plantation subdivision will download any recorded footage and forward it to FHP.
Lets not let this driver hide from their actions.
