BRIDGEWATER, NJ — An attempted car burglary early Friday morning in Bridgewater has prompted police to remind residents to lock up.

Just after midnight on Friday, Bridgewater Police were called to the area of Loft Drive off Chimney Rock Road in the Martinsville section of town to investigate an attempted vehicle burglary, said Bridgewater Police Lt. Kevin Lamey.

An area homeowner said they were alerted by their Ring Camera of motion in their driveway.

Police looked at the camera footage and saw a person approaching the vehicle, tried the door handle but the door was locked, said Lamey.

The person was not able to get inside the vehicle because it was locked and can be seen leaving the scene.

The suspect was dressed in all black.

Bridgewater Police are reminding residents to lock their doors at all times.

Should anyone have additional information they can contact the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 908-722-4111 ext. 4016.

No other car burglary attempts have been reported over the last two weeks.
