Mahindra Scorpio-N Vs XUV700: Detailed comparison

Mahindra’s recent launches starting with the Thar have been quite popular in the Indian market. The latest from the brand – Scorpio-N will soon arrive on the market. Many variants of the Mahindra Scorpio are similarly priced to the variants of the XUV700 yet there are many changes. Here is a list of all the changes between the latest two vehicles from Mahindra and Mahindra by Team Car Delight.

First of all, the Mahindra Scorpio looks like a proper SUV and it is very different from the XUV700. While the XUV700 offers a bold stance, the Scorpio-N looks much more upright stance with a high bonnet position. The Scorpio looks much more aggressive than the XUV700.

The Mahindra Scorpio gets a projector lens with the LED lamps while the XUV700 only gets reflector-type headlamps. The position of the DRLs is also different in both vehicles.

The Mahindra Scorpio-N is a better off-roader due to its design. Mahindra offers a better approach, departure and break-over angle with the Scorpio-N. The new Scorpio-N is also an RWD vehicle in 2WD mode while the XUV700 is an FWD.

Both the vehicles offer different types of door handles. The Scorpio-N gets a regular pull-type door handle while the Mahindra XUV700 gets electric door handles that have a clean flush-fitting look.

The Mahindra Scorpio gets a side-hinged tailgate while the XUV700 gets a regular tailgate. Also, the Scorpio offers a tall stacked tail lamp that covers the D-pillar while the Mahindra XUV700 gets sleeker tail lamps.

The Mahindra XUV700 gets a premium cabin with leather seats, connected screens, and a piano black finish while the Scorpio-N looks much more rugged.  The XUV700 gets 10.25-inch infotainment while the Scorpio-N offers a 7.0-inch infotainment system. The XUV700 gets a fully-digital instrument cluster while the Scorpio-N gets a hybrid analogue and digital instrument cluster.

The Scorpio offers a tall stance and the driver sits much higher. This allows the driver to get a better view of the road, which allows better visibility during off-roading. The second-row seats of both vehicles are similar. The Scorpio gets bigger windows and glass area while the XUV700 gets less headroom because of the panoramic sunroof.

The XUV700 also allows the rear passenger to change the position of the co-driver seat. In the last row, both the vehicles offer a similar space. The Scorpio gets better headroom in the last row. The comfort of the XUV700 is better but the Scorpio gets better space.

Both the vehicles get powered by petrol and diesel engine options. There is a 2.0-litre Stallion turbo-petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 200 Bhp with the Scorpio and 197 Bhp with the XUV700. The torque output is similar at 380 Nm with the Scorpio-N automatic and XUV700 but the manual variant of the Scorpio-N produces less torque at 370 Nm. Both the cars offer automatic and manual transmission options with the petrol engine option.

The diesel 2.2-litre engine of both the vehicles is also the same. It produces a maximum power of 130 Bhp to 172 Bhp depending on the variant in the Scorpio-N. The peak torque output ranges between 300 Nm and 400 Nm. The XUV700 produces a maximum power of 153 Bhp and 182 Bhp. The peak torque output ranges between 360 Nm and 450 Nm. Both the vehicles offer 6-speed AT and MT options.
